"Through my Essentialism, I dive below the surface of the person I'm portraying.

With all due respect to the roots of classical painting I've grown with, I want to overcome the limit of appearances, and ask myself:

If we were colors and brushstrokes within us,

What colors would I be?

What colors would you be? "

On May 5, 2022, "Essentialism" was inaugurated at the Museum of Art in Queretaro.

More than 400 people, from all over Mexico and abroad, showed up for the opening.

During the ceremony the following personalities gave a speech: Antonio Arelle, director of the Museo de Arte de Querétaro (Museum of Art of Querétaro), Gianni Vinciguerra, director of the Instituto Cultural de la Embajada Italiana en México (Cultural Institute of the Italian Embassy in Mexico), the collector Tom Saliba and to conclude, Filippo Giusti.

The exhibition was almost fully dedicated to the artist's most recent works, however, Filippo's earliest paintings were showcased in a final room so people could see his beginnings and very first style, Magical Realism. In addition, the show was set up with an area that was a replica of the Italian artist's studio, where for two weekends of each month of the exhibition (a total of 3 months), Filippo was able to paint live in front of museum visitors.

The show hit a record number of visitors (around 7,000 people) and positive feedback was sent to the private channels of the museum and the artist.

Many people were moved in front of Filippo's paintings (among many, the Spanish Consul in Mexico, Teresa Barba, who subsequently decided to commission a painting from the Italian painter); each painting was accompanied by a short story telling how Filippo and the person portrayed in the painting met, and this was indeed something that created a stronger bond between the viewer and the piece of art. Another element in the success of "Essentialism", was precisely the possibility for people to see Filippo painting live and have conversations with him. The noiseless atmosphere that characterizes almost every museum had to leave room for a wonderful and "sonorous energy" between the artist and the spectators. During those meetings (where about 400 people showed up each time) so may questions were asked and as Filippo Said: "It is so beautiful that today we have gathered together in this museum by our love of art. It feels like a moment that will be remembered for many years".

The exhibition was sponsored by the Museum, the organization "Amigos del museo", the Secretary of Culture of the Government in Queretaro, the Italian Institute of Culture in CDMX and by the Italian Embassy in Mexico.

“A través de mi esencialismo, me sumerjo debajo de la superficie de la persona que estoy retratando.

Con el debido respeto a las raíces de la pintura clásica con las que he crecido, quiero superar el límite de las apariencias y preguntarme:

Si dentro de nosotros fuéramos colores y pinceladas,

¿De qué colores sería yo?

¿De qué colores serías tú?”

El 5 de mayo de 2022 se inauguró "Esencialismo" en el Museo de Arte de Querétaro. Más de 400 personas, de todo México y del extranjero, se presentaron a la inauguración. Durante la ceremonia las siguientes personalidades dieron unas palabras: Antonio Arelle, director del Museo de Arte de Querétaro, Gianni Vinciguerra, director del Instituto Cultural de la Embajada Italiana en México, el coleccionista Tom Saliba y, para concluir, Filippo Giusti.

La exposición contó con las obras más recientes de Filippo, pero también exhibió sus primeras pinturas en una sala final para mostrar a la gente sus inicios y su primer estilo llamado "Magical Realism". Además, se montó una réplica del estudio del artista italiano, donde durante dos fines de semana de cada mes de la exposición (un total de 3 meses), Filippo pudo pintar en vivo frente a los visitantes del museo.

La exposición batió récords con un alto número de visitantes (alrededor de 7.000 personas) y se enviaron comentarios positivos a los canales privados del museo y del artista.

Mucha gente se conmovió frente a los cuadros de Filippo (entre muchos, la Cónsul de España en México, Teresa Barba, quien posteriormente decidió encargar un cuadro al pintor italiano. Cada cuadro expuesto iba acompañado de una breve historia en la que se contaba cómo se conocieron Filippo y la persona retratada, lo que creaba un vínculo aún más fuerte entre el espectador y la obra de arte. Otro aspecto del éxito de "Esencialismo" fue la posibilidad de ver a Filippo pintar en directo y de conversar con él. La atmósfera silenciosa que caracteriza a casi todos los museos tuvo que dar paso a un ambiente maravilloso y "enérgico" entre el artista y los espectadores. Durante estos encuentros (que atrajeron a unas 400 personas cada vez) se hicieron muchas preguntas, y como dijo Filippo: "Es tan hermoso que nos hayamos reunido hoy aquí por nuestro amor al arte. Siento que es un momento del que se hablará por mucho tiempo".

La exposición fue patrocinada por el Museo, la organización "Amigos del Museo", la Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno del Estado de Querétaro, el Instituto Italiano de Cultura de la Ciudad de México y la Embajada de Italia en México.
